TIME FOR AN ADVENTURE
WORK AS A MIDWIFE IN CANADA’S ARCTIC
Nunavut, a territory located in Canada’s Arctic, possesses tremendous beauty and holds limitless possibilities for adventure. It has primarily an Inuit population, and one of its biggest assets is the friendliness of its people.
We are seeking registered midwives to work on a casual basis at either one of the two birthing centres in Nunavut.
In this position, you would provide comprehensive midwifery care to women, babies and families in either Cambridge Bay or Rankin Inlet, including occasional outreach visits to surrounding communities. You would work collaboratively with other members of a multi-disciplinary, primary care team to provide prenatal, intra-partum and postpartum care.
You would possess:
- Nunavut Midwifery Registration OR be eligible for Registration in Nunavut
- Up to date Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Neonatal Resuscitation including intubation (NRP) and Emergency Skills (ES) for Midwives
- Ideally, a minimum 2 full years of experience practicing midwifery care with a recognized scope of practice and standards of care/clinical practice guidelines
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural setting
This position pays approximately $42.13 to $50.77 per hour depending on experience, with an additional $7.25 to $10.00 per hour for the Northern Allowance, plus overtime pay. Travel costs are reimbursed, and subsidized housing is available. Professional development is available.
