Job opportunities – Full Time Locum

Open Door Midwifery, a vibrant new midwifery practice in Vancouver, is seeking a full-time locum starting this fall!

 At Open Door Midwifery, we work together as a two teams of midwives, who provide each other back-up call coverage, and meet regularly to review patient care and discuss practice issues.

 The team seeking coverage is a team of three midwives, supporting each other to maintain a healthy work-life balance, to pursue life-interests, and provide woman-centred midwifery care in a continuous fashion, supported by her team-mates. As such, our team shares a case-load of 10 clients/month, with each midwife covering one third call with regular compensated time off. We are currently seeking a midwife to cover the maternity leave of one of our midwives from November 2010 to October 2011. Start and end date open to some negotiation.

 Some highlights of our practice include:

  •  Shared values of healthy work-life balance, including regular vacation/time off scheduled in advance
  • Collaboration and consultations with the Ob team who share our clinic space at Crossroads Clinic
  • Electronic medical records to facilitate excellence in documentation and seamless care
  • Information nights to support women in decision making around home and water birth
  • Growing collaboration with our network of Doulas
