Maternity Locum needed from October/November 2011 to October 2012:

Maternity Locum needed for approximately one year in the beautiful Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island.  Our catchment area extends from Ladysmith south to Mill Bay and west to Lake Cowichan/Youbou and includes the many quaint seaside villages throughout the region.  We have privileges at the Cowichan District Hospital; and are well supported by our nurses, obstetric team and the family physicians in the area.

 We are excited to have just recently moved into our new clinic location in a lovely old brick building that has just been completely renovated; it is spacious with high ceilings, plenty of light, and a very warm atmosphere.  Our clinic is part of the new Matrea Centre in downtown Duncan; a new holistic women's centre, which also includes a yoga studio, prenatal classes, an acupuncturist, a small retail store, etc.

 There are four midwives working in teams of two in a shared care model.  We attend 30% of all births in the Cowichan Valley; and we also have an approximately 30% home birth rate.
