The province is stabilizing and strengthening midwifery
services based on the recommendations of independent review
received in August.
Improvements include creating a second-attendant
program, hiring a midwifery practice specialist and
increasing the complement of midwives in the IWK/Capital
District health authorities.
Health and Wellness Minister Maureen MacDonald says
these are building blocks to provide better maternity care
and greater choice to women and families in Nova Scotia.
