Position Statements

CAM is developing position statements regarding issues in midwifery and maternity care.
These statements are developed with member input and in collaboration with experts in each area.

CAM has recently released a position statement on breastfeeding (November 2007).

CAM is currently working on a position statement regarding Normal Birth.

National Policy Development

CAM actively seeks and pursues opportunities to increase its capacity for midwifery policy development. CAM also engages in joint policy work with other health care agencies and professional organizations.

National Midwifery Advisory Council

CAM is exploring the creation of a National Advisory Council that would include key midwifery leaders and thinkers who could advise CAM on major policy issues. This Advisory group would provide Canadian midwives with a structure for participating in and contributing to national and international issues in a systematic, deliberate and thoughtful manner.
