National Aboriginal Council of Midwives Annual Gathering 2011
November 6, 2011: 12:00pm-8:00pm -Working Meeting
November 7, 2011: 8:00am to 10:00pm – Symposium on Midwifery for Aboriginal Leadership
November 8, 2011: 9:00am to 5:00pm – Aboriginal Midwives Gathering
This year’s Gathering will be hosted by the midwives of Six Nations of the Grand River, at the Community Hall in Ohsweken, Ontario. For the first time, NACM’s Gathering will include a day open to Aboriginal Leadership, from First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities, to come and learn more about midwifery directly from midwives (Nov. 7th). Presentations by Aboriginal midwives working in diverse communities will be given. NACM’s logo and website will be launched on this day. An evening program, including dinner and entertainment, will close the day.

The Gathering will also include a working meeting day, in which NACM’s board representatives for the next year will be chosen. Finally, November 8th will be a day of professional development, networking and story sharing for Aboriginal midwives. This year’s Gathering promises to be an historic event.

This event is free of charge. Meals and refreshments are included.
We encourage participants to seek funding through their local networks. For those who are not eligible for local funding, please contact the NACM administrator at
nacm@canadianmidwives.org
Partial funding may be available for travel and accommodation only. Priority will be given to Elders, students and midwives from non-funded regions.
Please note that the CAM conference (North American Joint Conference) will take place on November 9-12, 2011. A reduced conference rate is available for elders and students. If you do not have access to local funding, please contact: nacm@canadianmidwives.org.
